what is the best axle as im looking for one at the moment.
what is the widest axle

Maybe a Carlos Fandango axle would do , I suspect a few of the more senior members may remember them.

you cant fit them all.  Capri is 2" wider than escort IIRC

I think Cortina 3/4/5 is 4" wider than Escort.

Cortina is defo more than 2" wider...
Know someone with a 3.09 LSD Atlas that may be for sale....

The Cortina axle is about 4" wider than the escort, and it's quite a strong axle, but it also weighs a metric sh1tload. A bit too heavy
for a locost really, though people have used them.
