Ahhh....so its in there (its a silvertop) I shall have a look tomorrow. Should I replace it for a new one since the engine is in pieces? Oli.

I would have a look at it first because you may save yourself £50. They are very easy to see if there is any wear/damage. I have only found one so far
that i changed and that was due to oil contamination.

OK cheers. I'll have a look and see how much a new one is. Whenever I've done this in the past eg landrovers and pintos the oil and
waterpumps were changed as part of the reconditioning. Guess these newer engines are made of tougher stuff! If they're only £20-£30 I'll
just stick a new one in otherwise I'll make do with what I've got.....Thanks. Oli.

Oli,
I`m in the same dilemma. Was thinking of changing my zetec oil pump for piece of mind but all my local motor factors are telling me it is a main
dealer part only which is no doubt mega bucks! I`d be interested to know if you find anywhere else other than Ford who sell them and their price.

Called in to my local Ford Dealer today as I was curious on their price. They want a whopping £143 plus VAT for the oil pump!

That's a big piece of change for peace of mind Did you see or hear the engine run or know the mileage?. My mate is a Ford
mechanic and loves Zetecs, he says they are good for 150 to 200,000 with proper maintenance before they need any major work.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I managed to get a complete Mondeo off a mate who was about to scrap it so I did actually test drive my engine. It`s done 140,000 miles but seemed as
smooth as silk when I drove it the 10 miles home. I gave it some stick to test it too. It probably doesn`t need an oil pump, I was just going to fit a
new one whilst overhauling/checking the engine internals. You`re right about the mileage though, my brother in law has a 2.0 Mondeo with 190,000 miles
on it, not a puff of smoke anywhere.
