Rotrex mounted on 4AGE 20V
A few interested peeps know I'm building up a 20V 4AGE and using a Rotrex supercharger.
Below are a couple of pics of the Rotrex and ancillary mounting. The Rotrex is mounted where the alternator was and the alternator is now on the
exhaust side. There are some factory mounts to do this but they are from a 4AGZE engine which isn't exactly common here. The Alternator will run
off the end crank pulley the Rotrex and water pump will run on the belt behind.
The Rotrex does use both mounting points for the factory alternator so the mounting was relatively easy that side. The alternator is mounted more
rigidly underneath. The top mount is for tensioning and alignment.
I'm still waiting for some valve shims to be made and I think I've finally decided which pistons and head gasket I'm going to use.
Otherwise it would have been on the OMEX stand at the Autospoprt show!

Chris,
That has crossed my mind and I may be able to fit an additional jockey wheel between above the SC and water pump. The engine should be back together
with in the next couple of weeks. I then need to sort an inlet plenum, radiator and intercooler. Oh and install a Laminova oil cooler, inlet filter,
Accusump plumbing and all the other pipework!
I've used Allisport previously and they've already ordered a new radiator core to replace the Polo rad.
Welderman, were they Rotrex? I've used roots blowers previously.

Hey Blimble
looking good!
will you be using the original ITB's with an airbox? because you said you needed to make a manifod?
one quicky though what's the oilline comming from the pump housing? is it the input for the accusump or are you going drysump completly, what
thread is in that hole?

Thomas,
I just need a simple enclosure to pressurise the original throttle bodies. The manifold will be tapered to distribute the inlet charge but apart from
that plain and simple hopefully.
That outlet is to feed the Accusump as the alternator gets in the way of the oil lines. I'm going to use either a Mocal/laminova cooler in one
of the water hoses or in the heater hose circuit. The Rotrex oil will possibly get feed through a cooler built in the radiator, got to check the
temperature requirements first though.
As that connection is directly from the pump outlet I will probably fit an electric valve. This should limit oil to the Accusump initially and allow
the filter and bearings to get oil on startup.
If I remember correctly I ordered a 3/8" BSPT male adapter. I'm using 1/2" BSP connectors for the oil lines.

Welderman,
Coincedentally the pulley was loose on my Rotrex which I thought was odd as I expected it to be already torqued and sealed, I've now done
this.
I wanted to use an alloy pulley to save some weight and maybe aid response. The guys at Rotrex wouldn't let me have one saying that the steel
pulley was much better at resisting the twisting forces and stops the bearings failing. Regardless, having the maximum amount of wrap will reduce the
need for over tightening as you say.
