Good rolling road in Leics, MBE mapping

Just a quick one, want to try a new rolling road that is not too far from home.

A chap I know in Birmingham (Steve Walford Motorsport) will be mapping my grasser engines, but I want somebody closer by to tidy up the map on my 7.

Anybody know a good set of rollers near to Leicester.

Its MBE management, 956E ecu. Prefer somewhere that has the MBE software so I don't have to pay them while they learn it (hence not using John Wilcox)

cheers

Nat

I am going back a few years but I used to get my race car set up in Hinckley. John Wilcox from memory on the industrial estate Nuneaton side of the town.
Did Colin Blower not also have a rolling road in Hinckley.

Summer's here!!!!

I did think of him, but I'm never sure what to make of him?

Have you ever dealt with him?

To be honest I haven't used Paul as we sort of compete, but having known his father for over 20 years as such I've known Paul since he was very young!

As the ex workshop director of QED and now undertaking all their shop work since they pulled out of that side of the business he's going to know his stuff. MBE is of course the specified ECU for National Hot Rods and others of which he is very familiar.

Gary Cheetham (Nottm Class 6 Vauxhall) took his car to Northampton Motyorsport and they turned him upside down, shook all the money out of his pocket and left him with a car that was no better than when he took it!

I was happy with what Northampton did with my dellortos and 3d ignition. Don't know what experience they have with MBE. Personally wouldn't go to Wilcox or Colin Blower having heard bad stories but no first hand experience.

Quite shocked to hear that David - usually feedback for NM is very good. Just a one-off maybe? Was seriously considering taking my car there in a couple of months time...

That surprises me - I used to use Wilcox for all my xflow bits. On the odd occasion I had a query, I got put through to Mr Wilcox himself who always asked sensible questions then talked me out of spending money on uprated parts....

He's quite an authority on xflow cooling too...

Having said that, I'd heard relatively good comments about Clifford Cox so took my car there to be mapped. The main guy (Cox?) was just interested in selling me new carbs and the grunt running the rolling road set the car up so that it ran fine when going down the road but severely overheated when sat idling in cool weather....although I will I'd admit my carbs weren't in tip-top condition, I had absolutely no overheating problems before I took it in there.

Ironically my reason for taking it in was I wanted it more reliable for the Le Mans trip 2 days later. Spent the whole trip fecking around with the dizzy without a timing light trying to get it to stop overheating and actually run ok - something it was doing before the RR.

I think Wilcox is fine for building engines etc, I have dealt with him in the past a few times.

He's just a bit funny about other people's injection systems (he does his own ones) and was reluctant before when I asked about bringing a car with MBE to him.

Hmmmm its a flipping minefield this one!!!

maybe I'm best to see Steve Walford, although a bit further at least I know him, and he mapped both his XE powered class 6 nova and his/his girlfriend's VR6 powered nova class 6 and they both run superbly.

He's really an Omex man though as he's an agent and knows their stuff well.

he's currently trying to make the case to run omex instead of DTA on my class 7 twin
