New guy, First question

Greetings from across the pond!
I live in Canada & participate on the locostusa.com board, but feel some of my queries may be better answered here...
You see, I drive a Land Rover Disco, with the 4.0L. Im planning on swapping out for the 4.6l in the disco, then using the 4.0 in the locost..
However, as we dont have as many rovers over this way Im not sure what kind of manual tranny will mount up to the engine! Can someone point me in the right direction?

I belive real steel in the Uk do a belhousing to mount the tremac ( american ford ) gearbox to the V8.

I am sure somene can adapt a bellhousing from an Auto gearbox.

I am running a getrag out of a BMW and a special bellhousing made by John earls here in the UK,

A good atart is to find manual trannies that have removable bellhousiings.

why complicate things, the landrover r380 gearbox will mate to the engine and transfer box, just try and source one from a diesel discovery and use a V8 landrover bell housing (Any one from a 3.9 classic range rover will do !).

When you get the box grab all the trim to match.

Hi Mark,

Things may have changed since I last looked under a rangie disco but dont the R380 boxses bolt onto the transfer box like the old lt77.

How would you change this to 2wd from 4wd ? Intrested in this route if I ever blow my getrag up.

Just like the old lt77, tansfer box (LT230) is identical on 90/110's you just need the lt77 tailshaft.
