carb query

Just a question about the text below (I didn't put it in bold by the way) does that mean there is no choke system at all on these carbs??

Cheers, Scott.

WEBER CARBURETTOR: 40 IDF/S

Other Info: NEW CHEAPER VERSION MADE WITHOUT STARTER (CHOKE) BOXES AND CHOKE CIRCUITRY WHICH ARE UNUSED IN MOST APPLICATIONS.

Not sure how different they are, but my 48 IDA doesn't have a choke on it.

do you find any problems with starting or running cold?

I have no chokes on the buggys twin carbs and they seem to cope not too bad, just need a few second for things to settle down. I am assuming some change in the carb design allows this though I can't think what it would be.

I find that I have to rest my foot on the pedal for the first few minutes of driving. If it's a bit nippy out, a pump or 3 of the pedal before starting sorts things out, due to the accelerator pump. The only problem is running hard and fast in the really cold, but that's due to icing up. A warm water feed to the manifold would sort that though.

I put 4 IDFs on my v8 - I bought them as 2 lots of 2. 2 had "starting devices" the other 2 didn't. I never ever used the choke - pedal to metal twice & it starts first try, every time
cheers
