In short, NO. The 4x4 box is not usable for RWD, as you cant remove the transfer box section. Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

HI
Yes it can, I converted mine to two wheel drive-just got the tail housing from a normal type nine, then removed the transfer box tail housing and
fitted the normal one in its place

4x4 gearboxes are based on mt75 or type9 with transfer box (age depending).
Both the same strength as the corresponding gearbox it is based on.
You will find the v6 boxes are longer 170 instead of 150mm input shaft (might be wrong).
Mt75 can take 200hp - 400hp.

since your converting a fwd to a rwd it wouldent be much more of a move to make it 4x4, just require the right oil sump, bolt on the diff and fit two
drive shafts from the diff to the existing front cv's and a new front prop shaft be rather simple and not that much more work since theres no
more mountings required to make it all work just 3 shafts.
but maybe you want rwd, allow from what i hear the ford 4x4 box has a very nice torque split which makes it behave just like a rwd until you turly
screw up. the 4x4 would help you put lots of that horse power to the road with out huge amounts of wheel spins
