fuel pipe options (injection)

what are the options and pros/cons on the various types of fuel pipe for use with injection?

copper - cheap, any downsides?
plastic - cheap, slightly flexible, fuel vapour permeates through plastic
high pressure aluminium tube finished with gloss black polyamide, as sold by tifosi devon - ???

any other types? where to buy? I've not found anywhere doing the plastic stuff.

cheers

I've used 8mm copper pipe with flared ends created with cheap brake flare tool.

Then high pressure injection rubber hose with stainless overbraid fitted with rubber(not, but know what i mean) 'overends' and dual 'mini' jubilee type clips for safety. (Narrow version, pack from Halfrauds)

Cheap plastic pre-filter after tank swirl pot, then external injection fuel pump followed by aluminium cartridge filter. All connected with high pressure rubber injection hose and dual mini jubilees.

No probs so far despite warnings elsewhere for petrol attack on copper pipe.

Cartridge filter was new from Halfrauds for a Cavalier SRi.
Pump at £5 from wreckers from Cavalier.

Due to high pressure fuel when on injection I've fitted a pump 'kill' switch on dashboard. This only because i use it in motorsport.

its not hard to fit an impact switch from a ford in series with the pump relay. Turns off fuel in an accidnet when you may not be fit to...

Steve,
Not used an impact switch because on occasions a high speed bump on track kerbs has been known to activate them.

Kill switch is alongside ignition switch under aircraft type flipdowns. One downward sweep of hand turns all off, even for marshalls.

I saw an injection car run into tyres and suddenly burst into flames, turns out bump had pulled off injection pipe and high pressure petrol at 90psi was sprayed all over engine bay. The side mounted battery master switch was too akward for driver to reach and marshalls took a few seconds to reach him. Fortunately inbuilt system put it out after electrics killed.
