Davie ... looking good.
I believe if you fit the coil pack to the rear of the engine, this needs more space than the thermostat housing. This would give you the size for
clearance testing - unless you intend locating this off engine.
cheers
Jim.
ps I may have the thermostat in the garage somewhere ... i'll check at the weekend.

Good progress there mate...
I've just measured the Vixens early blacktop thermo housing which is the same as the silvertop housing.
From the head face it sticks out exactly 74mm to the furthest point.

i took a trip down to the scrappy and got myself a housing. i fitted it and have about 10mm gap. the only problem i have now is that the reverse ligt
switch is close to one of the tunnel uprights i cant move the engine back anymore and i would need a gear lever extension if i move it forward. do you
lot think the switch will hit when driving see pic

i didnt even think of that if so then i will cut the terminals off and give me more room, although when the car is done it will be the iva test so
might be different

Oh yes i forgot the dam IVA, probably best to check but the rule of thumb on my build for SVA was if it isnt needed it isnt going on pre test.
You do get a fair amount of movement on the gearbox with the type 9 rubber mount being a bit spongey, it is possible to change the mount for the
westfield version as used on ford boxed TVR's which is much much stiffer.
