Caprisport Brake upgrade - Gen II 300 brakes (300mm disc)

Hi All,

Does any one run a set of “Caprisport Gen II 300” brakes? I am looking at converting my Cortina set up to this but can’t figure out what disc it uses. It’s a 300mm disc which appears to have come from a 5 stud fitment. Obviously Capri sport wont tell me the origin of the disc, but I am betting it is common to some thing else.

So far similar discs I have found are on the 05 onwards Focus and the 2000 on wards Galaxy/Sharan…… both of these don’t have the chamfer on the edge of the mating face though…..

I was looking at an ST170 focus disc but not sure if the calliper (brembo four pot) would end up too close to the back of the spokes of the wheel meaning I would need a huge off set which may end up damaging my bearings and upsetting the handeling?

Also, I know that some body on the RS club has used 300mm discs, the 406 brembo and 15” wheels, so it is possible. 

I am just wanting to know which disc is used, I am not paying nearly £500 for a kit I can probably make my self.

Regards, Rob.

I know the calipers are from a 740 BMW, maybe the disks are from the same car? Also they mount the disk on the wheel flange and machine the original disk flange off the hub...

Hi there,

I just saw this post as I was checking before bed and thought that post looked familiar! Lol

No, I didn't work out what the caprisport disc actually was.

But did sort my brakes. I'm using a pug 406 283mm x 26mm vented disc, this is redrilled to fit on the back of the cortina hub. Then my brembo's slot on with a custom bracket.

If you have a search you will find the posts. Basically the Calipers cost me nothing as they were from my donor car and the disc was £2.00 from scrap yard, will invest in some new ones later, so pretty pleased with that. Will be pretty powerful, have to be careful not having ABS!

They fit under a standard fiesta zetec s wheel, 15".

Hope that helps, Rob
