Does anyone recognise this chassis?
Daf - 21/2/10 at 08:35 PM

It is advertised as an MK Indy, but given that there are no curved footwells I'm not sure. It comes with the Indy build manual and a load of other MK branded stuff - but I'm not so sure!

Any help would be much appreciated!

None of it looks MK to me, the chasis dosen't appear to have any of MKs trademark curved box section parts and the front end steering rack mount is totally different.

The wishbones and uprights certainly don't look like MK stuff either.

Looking again, the roll hoop isn't MKs style and nor are the cockpit side rails.

Most of the welds appear to have had the paint ground off them so i would imagine it could have originated from a locost chassis or something home made?

I have also found these before it was stripped which may help someone identify it!

graememk - 21/2/10 at 09:03 PM

its not a indy, but it might be a locost mk chassis.

Early ish Luego I'd say. IRS and diagonals round the engine and the bits where the rear arches bolt to give it away.
Also rack and rad mounts are like Luego
Early because they changed the column mount later one, but early ones were like that

Rear end is deffo Luego.

Actually this was me attempting to repair the scratches and marks - they were far too many so I have decided to strip it and take it to be freshly powdered

I'd say it could be an early MK
looked in SKIDUDE88 archive as has one, but theres no really clear pics in there

theconrodkid - 21/2/10 at 09:15 PM

front bones and a couple of chassis parts look like my old luego

graememk - 21/2/10 at 09:16 PM

i think doofus is right now i've seen the rear end pic

locoR1 - 21/2/10 at 09:40 PM

Looks like Early Luego to me! the rear wishbone mounting box type construction in the back gives it away, As far as i know no Mk was ever like that.

Edited to add: Also its got shorten drive shafts again the early Luego had shortened shafts

Doesn't look too similar to me?

But:-

Cant really make out the structure on the 1st couple of pic

& I've just had laser eye surgury so its still a bit fuzzy!

The back doesn't look de dion

I like the cheap seats, not sure they're legal )

Another vote for early Luego from me too, same bonnet lugs, steering rack mount with bracing, rear wishbones and sleeved driveshafts (before they went XT rear - 'extra track' )

Look very much like Luego wishbones as well...the poorly designed ones with the built in stress raiser.

Neville Jones - 22/2/10 at 10:46 AM

I'm always amused at some of the diff mounts. Have a look at this one.

The front of the diff is solid mounted to the chassis, so why did the clown who built this even bother with the rubber rear mount? It does absolutely nothing, and should have been solid mounted to match the rest. Or better still, the whole diff should have been mounted on isolators, to avoid some of the stresses to the chassis and the diff itself.

Cheers,
Nev.
