omega 24 v6 - 23/7/05 at 07:50 PM

I'm now pleased to say i've got my 25*25*1.5 today whooo hooo

It's all washed down and red oxided already and i'm sure this has been asked before but

Should the chassis be assembled with the tubing seams on the top bottom or sides? Or doesn't it matter ?

Thanks in advance guys

Doesn't matter but a good question tho.....

I didn't think it would matter that much but a second and third opinion does'nt hurt.

I put the seams uppermost on the lower rails, and below on the upper rails.

Thank god it doesn't matter, Id be in the crap

I'd look at the plans carefully and note where holes (if any) are drilled. I'd orient the tubing so the drill does *not* pass through the seam. It's a welded seam and pretty hard, sometimes the drill will walk a bit, trying to avoid going through it.

Or, if there are no holes to be drilled, I'd put it on the bottom for lower CG... yeah I know, too small to measure, but it's free, so...

Mine depended on which hand I picked the tube up with and which way up they were before I picked them up. If you face them all in different directions and one is a bit weaker then the effect will be diluted. (That's my theory and I'm sticking to it) You'll not know where they are when you paint them.

I like your theory Peteff.
I would classify that as a ( standard, staggered, random pattern assembly)
OK thanks for all the replies guys I'm off to wash the wife's car now ( keep her sweet ) and then i'm gonna cut me some tubing

I agree with kb58.
Always make sure the seam is NOT on the face where you want to drill holes for pop rivets etc. as it will cost a fortune in drill bits, bad language and holes run off line.
