Right heres the plot. The "standard" locost tank does not fit the car cause the panhard rod is in the way.
A custom tank is the order so what thickness/ grade aliminuim have other builders used. Now be aware its a bec so weight is an issue.
Opinons please
You just need to raise the tank slightly so the panhard rod clears underneath.
You don't want to go making it harder to rectify than it needs to be
Unless your set on making a custom tank.
Have you also got a rosejoint on the panhard rod (de dion end) as a normal bush takes up to much room and will foul the chassis.

Mangogroove,
I'm in the same boat, as you know, and so far don't have a tank but I've been in touch with Allyfab who have given me a rough quote of
£150 to make a tank up to my drawings. This will include a swirl pot and baffles and all the inlet/outlet pipes and as the name Allyfab suggests, will
be made from Ally...
My tank will be almost exactly the same shape as the stainless steel one you gave me a while back but will be a bit wider to make best use of the
space available in my +4" chassis. The only real difference to the standard Locost tank is the extra fold at the front bottom edge which
effectively cuts off the corner of the tank near to the PH rod.
I wouldn't want to raise the tank as personally as this will affect CoG and I would need to raise mine by about 2" to clear the PH rod which
would also make it difficult to fit my petrol filler cap onto the rear panel.
I'll send you a copy of my drawings of my proposed tank once I've done them if you like. Maybe we could negotiate a bit of discount with Mr
Allyfab?
Cheers,
Craig.
