What engine are you installing?

Aahh, just realised you're the guy who bought Kevs Fireblade engined Indy.

For what its gonna cost to replace the airbox with an aftermarket foam filter and baseplate from Pipercross/ITG etc (about £80 minimum), I don't think it's worth the hassle. Also, you may have to get the carbs re-jetted which is additional expense.

To top it off, you will also get a fair amount of induction noise with a foam filter which will increase your noise levels for any trackdays you may wish to do.

It's even questionable whether you'd actually gain any horsepower, so, in my opinion it just ain't worth it.

sounds like good advice hellfire crew, a lot of people have false claims about airfilters, after all it's a filter and any filter will restrict airflow, look at F1 cars etc.. they just use un-filtered trumpets straight into the inlet. as you say a lot of money for nothing, and plus there's the trackday noise thing aswell.
