Avon Tiger Gear Remote Gear Linkage
Michael - 8/8/06 at 12:54 PM

Hi, just been down the local Library to borrow the book, but low and behold they dont have that on their system. I even saw it at the Bromley Pagent for £11 but as i am alomost build i didnt buy it.

Well what im after is the instructions in cluding pictures of how to make the linkage.

If someone can scan and send them thanks, if not i will buy the book from Waterstones

i ended up using a westfield one, it a bit shoter then the avon one but i like it and it works well, also you have to mod the side or it hit the side when you rev it!
i think tiger have changed theres so it's more like the wesfield one ask them see what they have to say?

hope this helps

I agree with Mat. Used a westfield one myself and it does work well

I tweaked Tigers book design for the remote. I made the link bar out of three strips of metal, with the centre bit very slightly thicker than the tabs I welded to the gearbox-stick and new-gearstick. By doing this there is virtually no lateral play in the linkage + the added weight makes gear changes easier. Can't really fault it.

Nice idea Tim, I just got the two so will try a bit in the middle.

Cheers

i have also gone down the route of the westy gear change . i had the original tiger set up for the first year . finding the gears was near on impossible . fifth was a cow to get and it was very easy to hit reverse instead of first . (worrying for the car behind you at a junction) not to mention it is easy to put the gear linkage into a geometric lock where by you cant get into or out of gear you require. but as stated i think now tiger have their own version of the westy change set up . cheers scott
