IS this prop setup ok?
garage19 - 20/12/08 at 09:49 PM

This is mocked up with and extended BMW prop

Both engine and diff flange are paralell.

Prop from engin to centre bearing will have a slider in it.

Prop from centre bearing to diff is not straight. Is this ok?

Does the centre bearing need to be at 90 deg to the back prop rather than paralell with the diff flange?

i would think it should be okay...i dont think my prop is perfectly straight...as long as all the joints work well!

As I understand it , the engine and diff flanges need to be parallel with a one-piece prop - dont know how this works with a two piece prop ?

What shell is it fitted in?

looks fine to me but make sure the middle bearing is well secured as that will be where it lets go if its not right

Surely the slider needs to be between diff and centre bearing? As the slider takes up movement of the axle going up and down? Engine to brg surely wont move in and out?

As for the setup a u/j doesnt want to be dead straight anyway so it should be ok.

A chevette should be a beast!!

It has an E30 bmw rear end in it, not the normal live axle.

Up for anymore opinions.

Angled is okay (standard on my Busa Vortx) but try to keep the rear section of the prop (to diff) parallel. Output flange on mine is off-set and angled slightly. Slider at the front (with a fixed diff) is also okay as on mine.

Ah! I now know why this appeared 'familliar' to me, I've seen your resto thread on Turbosport!

The prop look fine from the pic and your description!
