what is it sensing for? temp gauge? fan switch?

For a gauge I would say near the engine , for a fan switch I would say near the rad.

Cheers

On my 919 blade I drilled out the bike temp sensor and tapped the hole to suit a car sensor so I could megasquirt it.

You must have one on the engine anyway, look on the head where the radiator pipe exists, it will be here abouts tapped in to the block.

Gauge sensor should go before the thermostat ideallly in the head, if you can't put in the head then in the by-pass flow.

Fan switch ideally goes in the radiator.
