Hi All
Is anybody using an emerald system on their bike engine.
I'm just pulling the bits together for my Balckbird engine (carbs but I've got a few sets of throttle bodies). I have the Emerald management
system left from my car engine setup and want to retain that because it's just so good and easy to use!
The wiring / setup are no problem for me.

Contact Emerald directly....they have put their ECU on Bike Engines in the past but they use funny trigger mechanisms so you'll need to check
with someone in authority if they've done a blackbird or similar before....
Alternative but not ideal is find somewhere to mount a standard 36-1 trigger wheel - pretty tricky on a bike engine, though as there is no front
pulley!
Hi Steve
The Honda appears to have a 12 / 3 ignition pulse generator (12 teeth but with 3 missing) - I reckon it would be easy enough to machine / fabricate a
36/1 wheel to replace this, as long as the standard Honda sensor is OK with that.
I'll give emerald a ring tomorrow.
The good news is my GSXR throttle bodies are almost a direct fit (some spacing) onto the normally carbed engine - result!

I see you mention building a mid engine car, what are you building?
Hi Triton
It's currently a choice between a home built Z cars copy, a pukka space frame (Hoping to get down to Cornwall at the end of the week to see
dreckly) or a single seater, based on an existing chassis.
So many decisions - I think I'll go to work where there's less pressure!

I spoke to Dave at Emerald this morning - they did try revised software on a Blackbird engine to use the 12/3 wheel but this had problems starting,
although they can't tie that down to the software / wheel setup.
He recommended I use a 36/1 wheel and I'm off to my local machine shop tomorrow to try and get the Honda unit redone to give me 36/1.
Fingers crossed!
