Hydraulic Clutch (which Master Cyl)
VinceGledhill - 7/2/06 at 03:10 PM

Please can someone help.

The engine I am fitting is a CBR1000

It has a hydraulic clutch. I was considering going other routes but the hydraulic conversion actually seems like the easiest route.

Can someone recommend a master cylinder that won't make the travel on the clutch end too far / not far enough.

Thanks in advance.

Find out what size the one on the bike was, thats a good place to start.

I just use a "normal" off the shelf master cly, the tick is too fit a adjustable stop behind the pedal too prevent over travel, a must on blackbird engines as overtravel = £££££'s.

Thanks guys. I'll look at that.

Anyone know which modern cars have clutch cylinders. Will look for one in the scrap yard.

also try setting it up so that you can move the connection up and down the pedal to get the right feel

I'm going to put the R1 on hydraulic clutch using the rear brake master cylinder off a kawa 400 (remote resevoir)

Hi there,

You'll be needing a FZR 600 rear brake master cylinder.

However pretty much any rear brake master cyl will do froma 600 / 1000 sportsy / tourery bike.

Mine is pretty much spot on - using the FZR 600 luckily sized up by comparing it to the original master cyl on the bike....

Mike (guiness) used the bike master cylinder actuated by a cable to the pedal in his ZZR 1100 and is supposed to give good bite feel?

Another way to do it I guess....!

Mine uses an off-the-shelf Wilwood unit with a non-original slave cylinder. Looks a b*tch to mount the slave but does a great job.
