
I have an R1 injection 5pw motor and need a fuel pump.
Malc told me the 2003 fuel pumps are built in to the R1 tank, hence I don't have one. Which (sensibly priced) pump do you suggest I use to mount
under the diff / tank ?

Any separate bike pump should do the job, or something like the old Mini or Jag low pressure lift pump will do fine.

So any 12v bike pump will do the job, carbed or injection? pressure the same etc ?
Sorry, just reread & realise I was talking utter garbage, for some reason I thought we were talking carbs not injection - Whoops!
Ok, for injection you will need a pump with the correct pressure/volume delivery, would think safest would be an injected R1 with separate pump -
other bike pumps might do but could cause all sorts of probs - Sorry again for the previous misleading post!
I have used an external bosch bmw pump on the F1-2 on a 1.4 K-series. It is about one of the cheapest injection pumps around.
Bosch do a universal one which is what I am using 0580464070. Think this is the same as used in the C20LET Vauxhall Cavalier. This is quoted at 195
litres/hour running at 3 bar fuel pressure and has a 12mm inlet and a 8 mm outlet
At less than £50 new from my factors cheaper than the Rover / TVR pumps some are using and pretty much the same spec.

I used a fireblade submersible pump with my 03 R1, it's only a 12 motor at the end of the day.
The only thing I couldn't get working was the fuel level, eventually got pissed off messing around with resistors.
I think most injected pumps are submersible, so you'd have to look at an aftermarket HP one, Westfield do one for the Megabusa.
I embedded the original R1 injection pump into my fuel tank. Works a treat. Pumps can be had for around £20 on e-bay. Only issue is getting tank
fabricated to take the pump in the first place.

I agree with Paul above,if you not had your tank made yet,get the fuel pump R1 pump mounted in the tank,then you fuel level indicator will work

Guys - great idea on using the original bike pump. I was planning on doing this originally but only have about 50mm below the tank. I ended up with
this ! That's the standard Bosch High pressure pump btw.
I'm seriously thinking of getting the tank remade with the bike pump (got a blackbird injection one on the shelf) mounted up inside it to save a
bit of weight and to simplify the system.

build a "header" tank with the in tank pump fed by a low pressure carb pump...

I already have the tank, supplied by MNR. I see these on Ebay a lot,
LINK anybody used one? are they high pressure for my injection R1 engine ? I would rubber mount one of these below the tank at the back end.

The pump in the picture will do the job,for how long is the question,but its not a sytec pump,it looks like a cheap copy of one,which are being
imported.Problem is with a injection engine if your fuel pressure drops,you may not know about it straight away,your engine then can run lean,and
subsequent damage can occur
sytec pumps are around £120+ you pay your money and take your chance
I used a sierra cossie pump, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on the return line..
