ZX10R Engine

Hi All,

I am thinking about getting a ZX10R engine (2005) and I wanted to know if anyone else has one fitted. What are they like? Does the sump need modding to stop oil surge or are they ok to just fit and use?

Any problems with the install or any other info would be great

zils is the oldschool version, not the new one. Unless he's had a recent upgrade!

Chris is using an R1 in his single seater. Paul Fisher is the only other person I know using a ZX10R (plus a turbo)

and the 2005 and 2006 is the same engine... except the 2006 has a new paint job (black)... the 2007 is where it changed... slipper clutch etc...


oh yeah... i know where there's one for sale if you're interested...


IU'm trying to find out if the sump can be shortened safely without dry sumping... I'm trying to loose 75mm so that i can fit a flat undertray the whole lengh of the car....

ade Im sure but could be wrong that the 06 engine was the one with the stonking power output ie over 180hp

06 with black paint,slipper clutch and 160+ rwhp on the bike.

so a more revised engine than the 05 rich that is what I was led to believe and a lot more power

"With Ram Air" will mean about 170 without, and unless the car is also going to be capable of 150+mph you won't get any significant ram air effect in the car. Still not bad by any means, but take ram air figures with a pinch of salt when thinking of them in a BEC install or when comparing against other non ram-air assisted engines.

from the same guy i bought mine off...

mine was for the full kit including us loom, rad fan, switchgear... in tank fuel pump / sender.. Tbodies .... all of it..

Further to this, does anyone have the specs for a K2 GSXR 1000? I am unable to find the details anywhere!

Does any one have one of these in their car? If so, what diff are you running and what is the 0 - 60 stats and top speed stats?

This would make sense as I remember Kawasaki saying that they upgraded the engine in 2006 to meet the stricter Euro 3 emissions regulations and had to move the generator to the other side of the crank to reduce friction losses to get the power back up to what is was before (this was actually a compromise to the bike since it meant mounting the engine higher to get the extra clearance required for the mod, but it was felt that regaining the power was more important). They also increased the crankshaft weight and made mods to the exhaust system and ECU but appart from that there were no other changes to the engine, the slipper clutch has been a feature of the ZX10R since it was introduced in 2004.

I remember them saying that the result was that the 06 model was 'almost' as powerfull as the earlier engine so 1 PS short sounds right. Basically nothing in it, they all have stonking power.

I have chopped/baffled my sump just to be safe but still doing the engine conversion so no useage to report yet.

Omni all youve got to think about is that nearly all Bike Engine Cars will destroy any car you see on the road that doesnt cost 100 grand +
