big fat update!!

been doing loads and loads on the car lately so its about time i posted some piccies for yall!

here we have my exhaust manifold made from preformed bends and welded together. look really swanky! not sure how the car will sound with 2 ports going to one can and 3 going to the other but should be interesting. performance is a no brainer as anything is an improvement on the cast steel original!

and here have the rest of the exhaust all finished in the same method plust a pair of bike cans from a vtr firestorm (this was my original choice of engine but when i changed my mind i kept the cans)
the whole exhaust cost about £250!

here is the gear change mechanism which feels a bit rough but im sure ill get used to it!

and here are the rear calliper brackets made from ally. the hand brake cables were butchered from an escort cable i think and i had to slightly modify the levers on the callipers cos they were to take pushbike brake cable type things!?! stupid americans!

yes, yes i know you shouldnt have really big brakes on a light car but...
they just look so damn pretty!

ive just about finished the front cowling for the radiator so should be able to plumb in the central heating, but while im doing ally panels i may as well finish the whole cockpit so i dont have to get the gear out again. the list is getting shorter and shorter before i can start the body work! cant wait!

To clean the exhaust note just put in a balance pipe, 2/3rds the diameter of the main tubes and just after the collectors.

V8's do not sound great without one as you listen to two 4 cylinders without the burble.... or one 4 cylinder if you stand to the left.

That looks the ab-so-lute BOLLOCKS mate! I of course, intensely dislike you 'cos you've got a lathe and a bandsaw in your garage! What type/model of lathe if you don't mind my asking?

Like to think I had some influence on the gear shift linkage??

I must get my side project finished so I can get back onto mine and make some real parts. Tired of this mock up stuff of mine now

love it, its really coming on well. The exhaust is exacty what I intend to do but in slightly thicker mild steel (due to the turbos hanging off them) were did you go to to get the bends?

its a clarke thing from machine mart. frankly its more use as a ship anchor for anything accurate unless you are really patient but it does the job.

got them HERE. very good service and good quality too. no matter where i cut the bends they match perfectly with the next pipe.

im not sure what the alloy is exactly as i bought it from rally design, listed as to be cut up into calliper brackets. you are right though it needs to be quite hard, probably 6082 or better would do. and the bolts are m10 12.9t jobbies so should be fine.
