how long does it take from applying for the test to actually taking it ? the car is nearly there so if were talking months i want to get it booked while sorting the finishing touches

I think in my case it was about 7 weeks

From the two iva's that I have done you send the form in and they usually call you by the end of the week and take the payment. once they have that the forms get sent to the local office who will then call you and book a date on the phone. on average you can usually get a test date 3-4 weeks after sending the forms in.

Here's my experience so far (also an excuse for another moan ):

VOSA received my application on the 18th May

Took payment on 22 May

I rang on 28th May to check on application, and was informed that they was a 7 day backlog!

I rang on 11 June and apparently it was "still with the Technical department" !!

So the test centre don't even know I exist yet! Funny how VOSA can have my money instantly and not actually do anything for it!

All I can say is don't panic about not having time to sort the car mate
