Exhaust heat shields??
Steve - 12/1/13 at 10:22 PM

Hi folks

Have not had chance to look up about heat shields in the iva manual but do you need to fit a heat shield to you exhaust on a 7 style car.
Have seen a few on here without them??

No you don't. People sometimes fit them as shape edge protection.

You can't cut yourself but you can burn the crap out of your leg!!

It's on passenger side so I'm good hahaha

Hi Steve, if you're not going to use a shield if you have a joint then make sure the bolts are "facing" inwards ie if you are using a standard exhaust clamp then rounded edge out.

I used an exhaust shield to cover the rear mount bracket which would not pass the IVA if left uncovered. (Standard bobbin to an L bracket)

Its worth a look at those edges/mounts and bolts/nuts as they all count in the "edge-sharpy pointed things" criteria.

Hope that helps and I'm not teaching granny to suck eggs.

Hi
As Ben said you cannot scratch your self or others
even if you run them over, but you can burn them
to death on your exhaust & that's fine.
good luck.
