I'm so happy right now, the car passed it's retest. To be fair the failure points from the main test were not difficult to rectify, so it
was five minutes to test, ten minutes to do paperwork, and two hours each way to get there!
The car performed well although it's just not a motorway car (no surprise there). The rev counter conked out halfway back, I suspect a loose
connection on the MX5 clocks. Nothing fell off or caused an issue, apart from the battery seemed to be very hot. I'll have to check whether that
is overcharging.
Time to start the work to turn it from an IVA-pass car into something reasonably driveable. I've got a few things to work on just from the drive,
a couple of places that could do with a bit more padding (including my seat base), and a vey buzzy mirror.
well done,
park it safely and go for a beer.
don't forget to take a decent scan (or at least a good pic) of the certificate before you send it for the registration.
well done

Oddly enough the guy gave me the certificate and said 'this is what you need to send to DVLA', then he gave me a photocopy of it and said 'this is what you'll need when the DVLA lose your original application and you have to resend it'...![]()
Great news and it's a big achievement to pass your IVA, yes get to work on all the little things and enjoy the driving!
Perfect time of year to pass too.
