Top Wishbones
tomprescott - 21/1/10 at 11:14 AM

Hi Everyone,
Seeing the other top wishbone thread reminded me that I still need to make mine

My chassis is as per the ron champion book, but I'm going to be using sierra hubs with an adapter mushroom. I know that the book dimensions for the top wishbone's are wrong, don't suppose someone could tell me what they are?

Cheers,
Tom

You want a minimum of 22mm castor instead of 11mm as per the book.

But they also need to be a bit longer because you're using Sierra instead of Cortina. Approximately 1 or 2" longer I'd have guessed.

Cheers,
James

Ok, thats a start, cheers.
Should I use the haynes roadster setup for the top or are they completeley different?

Just thinking that 1 or 2 inches difference in length is going to make a huge difference in handling, I really want to get these perfect!

don't the top wishbones have to be shorter for sierra?
never given it much thought as i used bedford midi uprights, but i thought the sieera ones had the top balljoint a lot further in compared to the cortina one?

Oh no, conflicting advice!
Is it wosher that makes wishbones? Perhaps I should give him a bell?

Looking at the 2nd pic here:

I've have said the wishbone needs to be longer with Sierra.

of Cortina would seem to agree as well.

James
