Tiger Avon wishbones
degmwilliams - 3/6/12 at 06:42 PM

Does anyone know if any one else sells these other than tiger? Or if any one has a set for sale?

degmwilliams - 3/6/12 at 07:59 PM

Iv justed priced up from tiger and a set is £421.08

jossey - 3/6/12 at 08:08 PM

ive just built a full set for £40.00

fronts and rears.

Just be aware that the wishbone plates on ebay dont work. as they are not wide enough.

the tiger book has the drawings so they can be made yourself or employ someone.

The Haynes or Champion wishbones DONT WORK.

plus the wishbones in the book are for the cortina uprights NOT sierra.

Ive not seen anyone else who sells them as they are NOT standard to anything else.

ps myt advice is borrow some off someone and build jigs and get on with building some.

I got the plates made up for £12 a pair.

1" tube 10M
3mm steel
36mm Tube 2m

Thats about it. the exact sizes are in the build manual.

Im using cortina uprights. Does it have the measurements for the plates? i might get some made and start knocking them out abit cheaper.

jossey - 3/6/12 at 08:48 PM

No it doesn't have the measurements for the plates but I have. I can send you them.

I'm using the sierra uprights hence the mention. I had to alter the top wishbone.

I would build a jig using existing wishbones as building new ones are a pain.

If you borrow some it will take minutes :-)

The wishbone measurements are simuar to the locost plates you can get off eBay but 20mm wider at the top. The Haynes manual has the plate plans.

In the book it stats that both plates on this wishbone are 10mm thick plate, on this picture the plate only looks to be about 4mm max.

I would be interested in the drawings please if you can send me them.
I know what you mean about setting up a jig with a set thats already made but not sure if i would be able to borrow any, i dont think il have to much trouble from scratch.

Hello Jossey,

Did you use seamless or ERW for the 1" tube? and also what wall thickness

Cheers
David

jossey - 4/6/12 at 12:41 PM

No need for seamless as I weld the seem at the plate side.

Will check thickness n let you know

Did you check the thickness of the tube? And can you send me the plate drawings when you get time please? did anyone see the picture I put on above? Why do the drawings say 10mm when in the picture it's not?
