Rear brakes (again) will sierra drums fit with bolt on type drive shafts

I was going to fit rear disks / cals to my car, (under 13" wheels) but after talking with a lot of people on here they reasure me that drums are more than good enough.

I am running a lsd out of a sierra with the bolt on type shafts, using these shafts is it possible to simple remove the disk brake rear hub / bearing carrier etc, and replace it with the drum set up, will these shafts fit into the drums ok etc.

Sorry if this is stupid question just have only ever worked at one sierra set up and its the one i have on my car at present.

Mine has an LSD with bolt on shafts and drums.

I simply cut the caliper mounts off the bearing carrier and it all bolted together no problem.

I don't think the stub axles are the same diameter (certainly the wheel bearings are different sizes) which might cause problems?

The problem I have had with trying to do the same is the fact the drum backplates catch on my uprights, and adding spacers caused more problems. But I think thats more down to the design of the Striker hubs/wishbones.
IIRC some one here (coozer maybe?) on an MNR simply used the disk brake hubs & carriers, cut the calliper brackets off, fitted them over the backplates and then fitted the drums over the top.

correct, but you can use the diskbrake carriers, hubs and bearings and mount the drums to the disk brake hubs.

Yep, just use your existing hubs and carriers but lop off the lugs for the caliper. I have a rear drum setup here (drums, backplate, shoes, wheel cyls) if you're interested?

Jumping in - are they 8" or 9"?

they have 229mm on them so assuming they are 9"

Cheers, thats what I have already, but been told 8" might fit without spacers. NVM
