Morning all.
I am looking to use some of these wheel bolt to stud conversion studs, so that the rear hubs on my car match the front hubs (i.e. they both have studs
to attach the wheels to). The front hubs are sierra, and the rears are fiesta.
I was wondering what people thought of the conversion studs that screw in as if they are bolts, but allow you to use a nuts to hold the wheels on?
Any tips for assembly/scare stories?!
Also, if anyone can point me in the direction of a supplier of ford alloy wheel nuts that are cheaper then a Ford dealer(the ones with a 60° cone
washer on that cost about £4.50 each from ford), I would be rather grateful!
Cheers
Andy
Try here for the wheelnuts:-

Cheers for that Link, they are indeed a fair bit cheaper!
I'm still a bit uneasy about the bolt/stud conversion studs though.... Anyone?

Well, I've spoken to a few of the shops that sell these conversion Studs, and they seem to think they are okay to use. I think I'll give
them a good dose of threadlock before I insert them though, just to make sure they don't come loose.

There's no problem with them at all. If you think about it, they are no more likely to come undone than the bolt or nut themselves would be
anyway, the clamping tension in the stud is still the same.
I would go with the loctite idea though, not for safety, but to make sure they don't come undone when you are undoing the wheelnuts, which would
soon get annoying!
I didn't think about it as a clamping force holding both the stud in place and the wheel! Cheers for that!

In my youth, the conversion studs were a great fix for VW Beetle wheel bolts. I'd never heard of Loctite when I was 16, so I used a sharp-pointed
punch to dimple the studs to the hubs/discs.
I would definitely use one of the permanent varieties of Loctite.
