
My 7.5 inch Cossie LSD needs taking down to 7 inch to fit in my GTS diff mountings.
Do I
A) lop 1/4 inch off each side of the top mount on the diff?
or
B) lop 1/2 inch off the side with the most meat on it!
Im leaning towards option A myself as it keeps things central.
And how do i go about doing it? has anyone else done it?
I lopped 1/2 inch off mine and it breached the diff casing, so I ended up buying a 7 inch one. However, in the future I think I will get a mount made
especially for the 7.5 inch one.
For something as critical as the diff I personally think a custom bracket is the safest option.
I don't know how wide the GTS tunnel is but the clearance for the UJ may be an issue with option B. I'd go for A, as you say it keeps things
in their correct orientation, and negates the possibility of chopping the driveshafts.

Got to be option A - assuming it can be done. Option B will give you all sorts of problems.

I thought the extra 1/2" is all on the nearside on a 7.5" diff, which means it'd have to be option B to keep things central. Could be
wrong though as this is just off a CAD drawing I have (but didn't do myself). Compare the top mount to the bottom mount. On a 7" diff both
mounts are 7" and central. Have a look on your 7.5 - if the top and bottom mounts line up on the offside then all the extra meat is on the
nearside. Or just find the centre of the diff at the top mount (casting line on the 7" diff) and measure 3.5" out from each side, and thats
where you need to chop.
But beware as i've seen a couple of attempts to do this end up with a hole in the diff. Better off moving the mount on the chassis, but if I
were you I'd be selling that large-flanged-fat-shafted heavy beast for the appropriate cossy tax and get yourself a nice cheap 7" LSD with
sensible sized shafts too.

Option C is the only realistic option, move/modify the brackets on the chassis to fit.
