3.38 diff Pinto madness
andyharding - 14/6/07 at 08:47 PM

The bearings on my new 3.38 diff are shagged so it needs to come out again

At least I did get chance for a hoon before it overheated too much though...

I can hit nearly 70Mph in 2nd gear and the wheels are still spinning when I change to 3rd. It feels a lot fast on acceleration than the old 3.92 diff. Kind of goes it the face of the common belief higher ratio = faster acceleration.

Can't decide if I should keep the ratio or change to 3.62 when fitting LSD...

exciting news because i'm just about to ditch my4.11 diff for 3.54 and was wondering what it will be like

Do you have bolt on shafts or push in? If you go for an LSD, you'll bolt on shafts and bolt on wheel hubs.

Push in.

I'm in the process of trying to get some hybrid shafts so I can convert to a bolt on diff.

Apart from the early ones with the small holes all diffs can be converted to bolt on but the LSD can't be converted to push in. So it makes more sense to have bolt on shafts as then I can fit any diff.
