diff washer plates!!!
grandad - 28/12/07 at 06:22 PM

hi Guys

firstly thanks to anyone that has given me advice to date as all advice has been spot on and helpful.

i have just removed the trailing arms from the diff, there seems to be 3 x washer plates pairing up the blots that hold the arms into the diff. are these needed when re-installing the arms (i had to cut the head of of two blots and cut through the washer plate). are these needed (yes or no) and if yes can normal washers be used???

cheers Guys and a happy new year to you all.

Bit more info required, what axle/diff ?

from another thread its a sierra diff.

Bin the damaged ones, refit with regular single washers.

i think the above post answers my question.

cheers

do you mean the lock washers where the driveshafts bolt on ??

there is 1 shown bellow (next to part G)

I'd get the right ones as they help stop the bolts from working lose - ford still sell them if you don't have a decent set - you only need 12 for the whole car

no need if he tightens them properly and uses threadlock (as advised on another thread). Having the washers joined in pairs isnt going to make a vast difference, if it gets to the point where the washer is free to rotate then the bolt is on its way out anyway!
