Hey
Just got my tiger cat out this evening after i got an other back axle under it.
I got now one from a ford scorpio with disks at the back. Olso put adjustable brake Proportioning Valve under it.
Now thes evening i got it out for a drive to a mate.
And when i arrived there, my wheels where hot and they where blocked.
Got hardly turned them around.
The proportioning valve was turned a bit out ( decreased way). Just to do the test drive.
When i turned it all the way is (increase way). The wheels stopt being Blocked. ???
How can that be?
And the valve is now fully increased so my back brakes are not working now.
But what can be the problem be?
Anybody got an idea.
thanks melvin
Maybe a stupid question, but have you got the valve the correct way round?

(1) Check the master cylinder piston is coming fully back. One way to check this is drive the car until the brake binds -- if at this state opening
a bleed nipples releases the brake then it is a hydraulic problem probably the master cylinder piston not returning fully.
If that is OK the try this
(2) Slacken back the handbrake cable tension fully until the cables are completely slack, the pump brake pedal hard 5 or 6 times, then re-tension the
handbrake cable so that the ratchet reaches at least 50% of its travel before the brake starts to bight on the the disc.
If you must use a pressure regulator valve get a Fiat Uno or Ritmo one cheaper and more reliable than some of the iffy after market stuff around.

Just thought of something --- by any chance is your proporting valve a modified BMC Mini type as per Dave Andrews site
http://hometown.aol.com/dvandrews/bpvalve.htm
If so there is a problem, to get it to work properly an additional modification is require to the valve that isn't mentioned on the site.

At a guess a new breather hole, since the original is blocked with a bolt?
Checked the valve and it was placed the right way.
Then went to mate and we put the car in de brake - bench.
And the brakes at the rear didn't work dammm
.
If turned the valve or not now difference.
valve broke i think.
+ I had an other probleme my wheels came 3 cm!! out of my rear wings. And that didn't look good. After some research i found that the scorpio has
a more space between the center of the wheels.
And it was to much to get it a way by placing other wheels with more et.
So this evening we put the old rear axel under the car....
Thanks for the help mates
cheers
