Ford Type 9 gearboxes

OK - I'm fed up of tripping over these in my garage... I was going to change to a long first gear on the good one, using parts (if necessary) from the scruffy one. Had them a couple of years, modification didn't happen, and probably never will.

There are two gearboxes for sale:

The good one

£100

The is a very late box with a hole for an electronic speed sensor instead of a spindle for a speedo cable - you can see the hole in front of the gear stick - you can either get a proper Ford speed sensor and modify it, or just blank it off and take your speed pick-up elsewhere. As you can see in the picture, it has its gear stick (which is unmodified), bell-housing and clutch fork. It also has its reversing switch on the other side. It has the normal length input shaft, and has not been modified in any way.

I haven't run this box so I can't guarantee that it's OK. However, everything turns smoothly and the gear change is slick and easy. I've also had a peek inside the cover plate and it all looks OK (to my eyes anyway!).

The not-so-good one

£40

This is a bit scruffy compared to the other one. However, everything turns OK, and nothing appears to be broken. It doesn't have a bell-housing, clutch fork or gear stick, and it's also missing the cover for the input shaft. this one has a conventional outlet spindle for a speedo cable. I'm not sure that this is a run-able box.

Both together?

If you fancy doing what I originally intended to do and would like to buy both boxes then I'll take £10 off the total - £130

PERSONAL COLLECTION ONLY!

These are big, heavy and lumpy - and there's no way that I want to get involved with couriers or any other similar hassle.

I live about 5 miles south of Ipswich (just north of the Suffolk/Essex border), 12 miles north of Colchester, and just off the A12 so easy to find.

I might be interested in the cheaper box David but I'm not back in the country until the end of the month so If someone else wants it let them have it.

Is the £40 one a long input shaft box?

I need a long shaft for my Midget conversion, but I've got a functional short shaft box already so just need a new input shaft really.

No - I think it's a standard input shaft.
