WANTED: Argon Cylinder
daviep - 6/10/09 at 12:39 AM

Anybody got an Argon cylinder for sale. Air Products or BOC I'll collect from anywhere in the UK, I'm fed up paying rental on a bottle I only use occassionaly.

Cheers
Davie

Keep an eye on ebay. They regularly go for less than a BOC refill. Problem for most people is most couriers wont deliver gas cylinders.

Hi,

There is a company called Key Gas, on the outskirts of Wrexham that can charge cylinders. I get my gas off them, the last cylinder I got was £45 and rental is £2 per month for up to 3 cylinders, which I believe is not bad.

Regards

Bob

Davie if you are going through to glasgow to zilspeeds recomended place could you take a cylinder of mine to fill.
Ive got a bottle needing filled.........just need to kill the rental one once we have emptied it.
Like you Im fed up lining the coffers of a company that sends you letters telling you why the price is ten times more expensive than last year. How they have had to buy new bottles ect.........boohoo and how the leccy bill is so high. BOC are evil........take out the other suppliers then dominate the market.......with your pricing structure.

BOC's latest excuse for their price hike on argon was that the demand for oxygen had fallen and the argon was a byproduct of the oxygen extraction process.....

Take it from that quote you got the same silly letter.....

What you need to do is to get bottle with a mate or two, and share the contract.
The hard part is getting the bottles for the contract owner (BOC, Air Products etc etc)
Then you share the rental, and refill as per the norm.

I'd love to halve my rental costs!
It just takes a little organising and trusting of your mates.
