I must admit i've done the dream win the lottery and spend a fortune building an Ally 2.0l crossflow.

Except i put an alloy 16v BDT head on mine. Burtons = extreme car porn.

for far less you could have a proper engine like a v8 that would last longer, sound better, give you more power and still leave plenty of change in your pocket

I like it!! (the alloy one that is). £ 5 K for 190 bhp is not that bad for a crossflow.

I dont really get this mentality - not specifically from you 02GF74! but I mean the community of people who chuck wadges of money at unexciting engines. £10K for 190bhp is literally pathetic!

I do understand the idea, considering some races/sports require specific engines but for this kind of money for the level of excitement generated by 190bhp... find a different sport.

^^^ goes wtiohout saying that obvioulsy it only makes sense if you are restiricted due to regulations having to use crossflow.

otheriwse it is madness.,

Is it £5k or £10k for 190bhp?
I suppose it is like asking why people race historic and vintage cars when they could campaign something much more modern and cheaper? Why build a Lotus 7 inspired car for £10k when you could buy something much more sensible, almost as much fun and with a roof, heater etc?

10k for 190bhp, 5k for 180bhp .

Personally I'm building a lotus 7 because there is nothing like it, I simply wouldnt be making it if I could spend half the price and get as much enjoyment.

Each to their own though, money is there to be spent, and people should spend it on things they love..and theres a lot of love to go round for classic cars and engines!
