These have been all the rage for a little while now. I recently got a GoPro but have been thinking about maybe getting a coule of these for extra angles...

I've got one of those, it cost me just over £9 off ebay. I've not had it on the locost yet, it's off the road ATM but it's excellent even in the tintop.

Combine with Racechrono, corel videostudio and racechrono-to-avi and you have on board footage with speedo/tacho/map etc on screen

Like this (not my footage)

I got one of the little cameras too. Again, about £9 posted but it took about a month to arrive from Hong Kong.

Not had it in the car yet but seems to work ok in the house!

I have one, paid £40 for it at the start of last year though, got loads of race videos with it. Brilliant bit of kit for the money even at £40!!

8GB would give you about 2 hours I think. At the moment I'm using an old 2gb card and I'm getting about 30 mins or so.

Humbug - 19/1/10 at 06:33 PM

Just ordered one for £11.06 buy it now... I'll wait and see when it arrives

I have an 8Gb card in mine now, but the 2Gb card I had in before recorded for around 22 minutes before stopping due to being full
I'd guess at 1:20 or so for 8Gb.

Just ordered one of these. Just over a tenner inc postage from Hong Kong.

Will wait and see what comes.
If it works OK, then its worth a punt for a tenner.
If its isnt, then not a lot lost!

I'll report back when or if it arives.
I noted this seller, has had a few negative feedbacks. Mostly ones that were not working.
Time will tell!

David Jenkins - 21/1/10 at 12:21 PM

I bought one a while back - it worked and produced some decent video, considering the limited spec).

The main down-side is the laughable instruction sheet, and the non-working driver CD-ROM. I found some better instructions on-line (for a keyring camera, but from the same manufacturer and the controls are much the same). I didn't need the driver (most people won't either).

Also, the video has the date and time in view, and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn that off.

Despite all that - it is still a bargain at that price, and can do some useful stuff.

JonnyS - 21/1/10 at 01:19 PM

I've bought one too. For the price it's worth a punt and will be useful to get some extra shots to my normal mounted camera on trackdays.

madrallysport - 21/1/10 at 08:33 PM

Just bought as well, cost me £10.46 including postage, worth a go at this money

karlak - 27/1/10 at 04:57 PM

Mine has arrived and seems very good (for the money) - Just curious has anyone tried it as a WEBCAM using MSN messenger. I have got it working with the supplied "Ampcap" software and it does what it should - show a picture on the PC screen. But , msn does not recognise I have a webcam attached - any ideas ?

Also, it says it has 2 different formats of resolution - how do you change/check to see what your running ??

Anyone found a way of removing the date time stamp on video ?

wilkingj - 27/1/10 at 05:26 PM

I just got mine in the post from Honkers
not bad really, didnt take too long.
The Downside is they never send me the CD with the drivers on it.

So anyone with one of these and has a CD with it, andy chance of a copy.

Until then I cant tell you all if its any good

EDIT:
20 mins Later and LCB have come up trumps, with two people offering the drivers.
As soon as they arrive I will test ans see if I recon it was worth a tenner inc postage from Hong Kong.
$8.99 for the cam and $7.99 for the postage. ie just over a tenner in real money!
Its looking better... hope to play in the office with it. Its SO Dinky small! and has a couple of useful brackets, even if they are a bit flimsy ones.
- I'm smiling again thanks to the nice people on LCB.

Do you need the disc?

I just plugged mine in via a USB and it worked?

Mark.

Peteff - 27/1/10 at 05:58 PM

Do they have a screen to see what you are recording or do you just guess ?
