Hi all, im thinking of getting one of these to have in the tool box for them just in case times.

are the cheap ones off the bay worth getting?

or what would the people of locost recomend

thanks
ian

Definitely worth having. I just bought the Silverline one as its made by the same company that makes the Draper one but much cheaper.

I bought the Silverline one and it's been fine so far

I used a cheapo one and it was fine until I went mad at the Exeter show and brought one of the Memfast sets. Well, the difference is unbelievable, requires almost no effort and can get the right amount of squeeze every time. It's also superbly made and will last me a lifetime.

Obviously I'd highly recommend one, have a chat with the guy at Stoneleigh if you're going he did me a bit of a discount on a load of rivnuts too.

+1 for the memfast tool

How much is the memfast tool at Stoneleigh? Cause I might just wait for the show if it's discounted over web price?

Thanks,

Depends how many you have to do! I went for the locost home made version a I only had a few to do!

I have recently bough a silverline one which I can't fault for the price!!! At work we have 2 masterfit ratchet ones but there £150 each!

If your only going to be doing one or two at a time have you thought about just using a set screw with a nut and a washer. Whilst I used mine a bit when building the car I don't know if I would bye one just for the sake of it

i have not got any to do at the mo, I was just thinking it would be something nice to have in the tool box for them just in case times :-)

Memfast if you have the money, if not the £20 laser 0979 tool has worked well for me, broken a couple of the m3 mandrels but the dealer or laser replace them for free.

Silverline. 3 years, umpteen steel rivnuts, £13, why pay more?
