Opinion on design?
killerferret666 - 15/11/14 at 04:07 PM

Finally managed to get hold of the spoiler I wanted... Now do I keep the end curves...or chop them off, bad photoshop included! Opinions wanted on what others think. If I chop the curves off obviously the spoiler wouldn't be as wide so not sure it would look right, hard to judge

With that spoiler I would keep the end plates on. If you want one without end plates I would personally go for one like the noble m12, more gt3 racer look than street cruiser.

Quite like the end curves

^^^ ditto

I am not a spoiler fan, but with the ends, appear to follow the curvy likes of your car, so keep them

with out the ends, it looks like you have bought a halfords one and stuck it on
just imho !

Keep the ends - fits well with the car

Better with the ends for my eye - blends better with the bodyshell, without it looks too short.

tegwin - 15/11/14 at 07:57 PM

I like the middle bit following the contours of the car but the ends look a bit too max power... Chop them off and extend the wing to full width and put little vertical winglets to finish the ends. Imho

big_wasa - 15/11/14 at 08:16 PM

keep it curvy

Carbonman - 15/11/14 at 08:21 PM

What about lowering it a bit and blending the curved ends into the rear wings.

Keep the ends and loose those god awful headlights!!!

That would be a complete redesign lol However the headlight covers won't be the same colour of the car when done. This isn't going to be the colour of the car at all, this is just current gel coat. Unless you mean tail lights...then I agree they are a bit dated and at some point in the future will be replaced by LED rings.

I tried resting the rear wing on the arches with same idea about curves blending in, the wing would need to be at least 3-4" wider and for the work in labour time to do just doesn't make economically viable. It would currently blend in just before the bodywork curves so I think would look a bit wrong.

No, headlights I said!!! Why not put them behind an acrylic cover if you realy want that type of light. I just think it destroys the front end look. I admit my idea would make it look a bit GT40ish but nought wrong there. Just my opinion though marra!

I don't think it would look right with a clear lense and look less complete due to the lense mountings being on show. It would also need to be moulded as couldn't lie flat as the lenses break the natural curve of the light unit open area if that makes sense as I'd had a play around prior to IVA.

I'm going to make the front look similar to this in terms of headlight design and break up the front a bit, although colour won't be in your face like an orange.

You might have IVA problem with front position lights. I presume they are in one of the headlights. They must be visible from an angle of 80 degrees to the side of the car. The lights shown do not look compliant. You might have to add an actual front position lamp (sidelights) to get through.

I've already passed IVA and got a registration plate. So that all passed ok. The front position lamps are actually the little black dots in the headlîght covers in photos a bit higher up the page. But you are right if I had gone for models with the position lights in the units it would of failed I think as well.
