R1 question

Hi all,

Is using an original R1 Fuel sender possible with an MK Indy fuel tank?
I have done a few searches, and apparently there is no fuel gauge on the 4XV clocks, only a low fuel warning light.

Could anybody confirm this? And will I need another fuel sender and gauge?

Thanks,

James

Correct, not many sports bikes have fuel gauges.

You will need a seperate sender unit.

you can get a fuel resistant optical level sensor from RS Components for about £14 - you can then fit it into your tank at whatever height you choose and use the low fuel warning light on the bike speedo.

Would this be a direct attachment to the sender wires from the clocks? I am not too up on electronics.
