I have a problem whereby the blue indicator on the dash is lit up constantly whether on low or high beam.
It seems to be originating from the front nearside because if I unplug the headlight, leaving the offside one working the dash works correctly.
Now, I've just changed the lights for Dominators and thats when it started. However after that putting the old light back on the problem
remains.
Wiring is bog standard Sierra loom with original switches.
Any ideas?

I had this a week ago. It turned out my earth point for the light unit itself was loose. Fixed that and problem solved!
For me, as Side/Dipped/Full shared an earth point (which was dodge) they were earthing through the Full beam indicator!!
Are you using H4 lights?
i bet its because you have got the -ve and low beam wiring the wrong way round.
i wired mime up accidentaly wrong like that, and whenever i but my low beam on the main beam warning light came on ( although quite dim) and it came
on bright when i put main beam on... i think it is because the power is feeding back through the other element in the bulb
First thing to check off course is the earths as if they're bad, the electrics can behave very oddly indeed
OK, I'll check the earth's and the wiring way.. I thought it might have been wired upside down but with the lights on against the garage
door they look OK.
Checked the H4 bulbs and swapped it for a new one but still the same.
Anyone got a diagram of the 3 connections for which is which??

Sounds like a bad earth on that lamp and the dip is back feeding through the mainbeam filament. High resistance will do it and not just a loss of
continuity.

SORTED!
Thats why I love you guys and this forum...
I used the white wires as the earths on the side lights as I assumed the black would be the live. No idea why. Anyway used the white from the main
bulb as the earth as well, soldered them together in the plug on the loom.
Looking at the diagram above it was going to the low+. Swapped them over in the light and now I had low at high and high beam at low.
Swapped the connectors in the plug that goes to the loom and WOOHOOO, high and low beam, no blue light on the dash at low.
Solved another problem as I thought the high beam was very poor before, now its spot on.
