Hi Guys,
Couple questions about megajolt.
Firstly i currently have just edis, no megajolt and i have had the engine running on limp home mode so i know everything works. I want to drive the
car in the next couple of weeks before i go back to uni. i assume this shouldnt be a problem to do on limp home mode? (wont be thrashing it or
anything, just a quick drive up my drive and back (500m drive
)
Secondly i want to put megajolt on it, but want to do it as cheap as possible, so my plan is to buy it in kit form, then assemble in spare time when
im back at uni in october.
Whats involved in assembling it? is it just soldering the parts together?
And where should i look for kits and how much should i expect to pay?
Cheers
Mikkel
Your car will drive ok in limp mode,if it just a try out job.
Autosport labs are a good place to start, for a megajolt. The price of an assembled unit isnt much more than a diy jobbie.

Buy from Autosport Labs direct, I think mine was £75 to the doorstep.
You NEED a magnifier, a fine point soldering iron, and .4 or .6 mm solder wire, the parts are unbelievably tiny, a grain of rice dwarfs some of them.
Many are polarity sensitive, and very difficult to see the markings.
I built mine in a couple of hours, including testing and burning the code, all worked fine 1st time, I've just ordered the parts to convert it to
MAP. I do have a history building and modifying guitar amps, but they are huge by comparison.
right so by the time i get the soldering iron and solder and magnifier, is it worth it?
How much would a fully assembled unit cost?
Second hand ones come up on eBay around £100
^^ or sometimes on here for less than that
Yes, if you haven't got the tools, buy one ready built, cheaper than the kit + tools.

looking at pricing, im very tempted to but the self assembly one.
Does anyone know how much import etc is to get it here?
I have relatives in america, would it be cheaper to get them to send it over to me?
I have had quite a lot from autosport labs and have never had to pay duty.
ahh OK cool cheers
Yep, they come described as electronic components and an aluminium box.
My kit was valued at $15 so no import duties to pay.
always a bonus and itll give me something to do at uni the nights im not out!
