Helping a friend wire up his R1 engine, got everything working, all the usual things bi-passed, engine starts etc, the only problem we have that we cant seem to resolve is the rev counter, once the ignition is on the rev counter keeps bouncingto 8000rpm and back again, is there something we are missing, possible an earth or something or are the clocks naff, any advise welcome so we can try.
fault code mate
most likely 1 of two things either way around
1. has he got a fuel sender connected if not there is a little green two pin plug get a bit of wire and join 1 side to the other
this will make the fuel light come on permanently but the code will go
2ndly is the EXUp valve plugged in its a mechanism to do with the exhaust
its not needed on the kit but if its not there at all the ecu wont be happy
some leave it on ie cable tie it out the way
some make up a resistor thing to fool the ecu

Cheers,we didnt have the fuel gauge connected so will tr what you said, the other item we left in place so hopefully a simple problem to resolve,
yep its a bright greenish two pin plug
just bridge it
your fuel light will be on permanently but so was mine who cares
just get yourself a proper fuel gauge now you know
ie a mechanical one
Or, if you don't want the low fuel lamp on, put a resistor between the two pins. I don't remember what the best value is but a few K will do. 10k maybe, try a few different values.
