For 5k you could build a custom drag racer and get sub 10's i reckon.
Probably wouldnt be to any spec, but as a RWYB i reckon you could make something pretty quick if it was a pure racer.

I second this vote as the RX7 has a very low Cd, 50-50 weight balance and decent brakes. Buy an auto and you'd have £2000 left over to make some mods to make it even quicker. Has the better final ratio in the diff if top speed was your aim.
