I'm too big!
pekwah1 - 7/9/09 at 09:33 PM

Hi guys,

So i was out for a drive tonight in my rep-mobile and met Jamie (jpindy on here) and his mk indy.

We had a chat about the cars and he was kind enough to let me have a seat in his, oh dear though, looks like the pies and fertilizer have caught up with me!

Was a very tight fit just to get sat in the car, and once in there wasn't anywhere for my legs to go, certainly not on the pedals, or if they went on the pedals they weren;t going to come back off!

Oh yeh, i'm 6'3" and about 13.5 stone.

He said his seat could probably go back about 6 inches or so, do you think this would do the job or am i just gonna need a widebody? It was the lack of width that concerned me a little, i personally do like a tight fit (no comments!) but obviously would like to be able to operate pedals once i'm in!

Cheers,
Andy

Eh?
Im 5'10 and 16 1/2 st 46" chest and easilly fit the width, no probs with the legs obviosly
What were you wearing

pekwah1 - 7/9/09 at 09:40 PM

That's quite impressive!
Are there different models of indy then, would yours be the same as jp's above?

pekwah1 - 7/9/09 at 09:41 PM

just wearing jeans and tshirt.
Maybe the width seemed small as my legs were trying to bend in ways they shouldn't bend.... ok so mabe if there was just a bit more legroom then it'd all be fine.

bassett - 7/9/09 at 09:42 PM

Do you have an MK? If not sounds like im a bit heavier than you but shorter and there is masses of room in the MNR and i know some tall chaps over 6' get in. Maybe seat choice could also be playing a part

LBMEFM - 7/9/09 at 09:43 PM

Yep, all Mk Indys are the same. If you are ever near Deal (nr Dover) you are welcome to have a go in my car. Barry

pekwah1 - 7/9/09 at 09:43 PM

they were just plastic shell seats

jpindy3 - 7/9/09 at 09:43 PM

mines just a std indy chasis

pekwah1 - 7/9/09 at 09:43 PM

...with a mental engine mind....

jpindy3 - 7/9/09 at 09:45 PM

you could get a robbin hood super size

pekwah1 - 7/9/09 at 09:47 PM

do i get fries with that? P

it's sounding like the indy should be fine with the seat moved back though...

richardR1 - 7/9/09 at 09:50 PM

You will definitely fit fine, I'm 6'4" and 16 stone and i fit very comfortably in my Indy. I also have the Cobra Roadster 7 padded seats which take up more room.

pekwah1 - 7/9/09 at 09:52 PM

i don't know les, i don't usually go in the boar tbh.

Oh and i've been asked to ask you if you know tom martin?

jpindy3 - 7/9/09 at 09:56 PM

no i dont knoe him,
if you see les she is short and has dark hair, she thinks we drive kit kat cars

pekwah1 - 7/9/09 at 09:57 PM

well if you drove a tiger then you could be driving a 'kit cat'

Wouldn't have thought width was a problem, 13.5 stone at 6"4 is not exactly lardy is it, when your like me at 5"11 and nearly 18 stone, that's lardy and getting your arse jammed in the seat size

t.j. - 8/9/09 at 06:04 AM

how big is he??????????
Stone?

Can anybody translate it to metric?

flak monkey - 8/9/09 at 06:54 AM

You should fit no problem. Probably just need to move the seat back.

I am 5'10" and I have to have my seats right forward to depress the clutch. And at 14 stone I ain't skinny either.

whitestu - 8/9/09 at 07:00 AM

It'll be the fibreglass seats that make it feel small. I thought exactly the same when I first sat in an Indy. I then tried a car with Cobra Roadster seats [which is what I have in mine] and it felt fine.

1 stone = 6.35029318 kilograms

18 stone = 114.305277 kilograms = 252 pounds

Agreed if it's got the skinny ones it will feel tight to a lot of people. You can get wider ones from some manufacturers.

A1 - 8/9/09 at 08:54 AM

im 6'2 and fit in okay, my legs are always a bit bent though, but the seat cant go any further back
you should be able to fit, i was taken for a run by a chap who is waay bigger than me and he got in okay

graememk - 8/9/09 at 09:20 AM

i'm a BFF, and i can get in and drive my indy with comfy seats no probs.

its getting out thats the prob.

pekwah1 - 8/9/09 at 02:30 PM

cheers for all the replies guys.
it wasn't the seats that was the problem for me, i like tight hugging buckets, it was more the leg room or lack of that was the concern. Although 6'3" is hardly a giant, i've got pretty long legs.....

I'll have to find someone tall near me with a locost...... any helpers?

leemarkadams - 8/9/09 at 02:45 PM

I am 6ft 2" and 16 stone (34" waist with a 48" chest) and I fit in my MK Indy ok.....

I need to lower the seat a bit more as my head is on the roll bar with a helmet on, but without it is no problem at all. If there was not a full roll cage it would be no problem at all!
