Cracking film 
Watching it on BBC 1 just now - great film.
Best of all, I know someone who is exactly like the bloke in the film.
Not even a bit like him, exactly like him.
Old, crazy and best of all adventurous.
I'm watching it on BBC2!

I have a copy (of dupious background) was handed to me after the local M/C club had a private showing at the local theatre, keeps us 60+ types building Locosts, and keeping the last new motorcycle I bought in the garage (83 Yamaha Vision full fairing) waiting for the 30 cm of snow to go away.
I watched it a few weeks ago and enjoyed.

wow what a good film, first time ive seen it and its briliant
true story as well and the record still stands.
reminds me of the late Alan Brownlee,ex lotus 11 owner and the first retirement (first lap) at le mans 1960 something....its due to him i got into the
locost thing in the first place.
died of a heart attack at mallory park a few years ago....RIP mate
i watched it and really enjoyed it. I sort of knew it was real but wondered how much they made up. I believe there is a book about him. tempted to
read it now.
(also wondered what would be involved in having a go at his record - despite the fact i don't ride a bike)
I should think breaking the record would be pretty easy with bike technology these days, probally get away with a standard 954 blade engine in a
steamlined shell. The current record is 351mph with a 3litre engine in a streamline shell....
But getting that power from a 1922 Indian lump, thats masterful, be a shame to break the record as the goal posts are so far different.

I don't believe Honda sold any Fireblades in America so you should be quite a revelation when you turn up with one.........
Ah I was talking about the sub 1000cc streamlined record with a 954 blade engine providing the oomph. they do 165mph out of the box which is slow
compared to other stuff these days.
Having hit 160mph on a bike a couple of times on a track I do not fancy going any faster than that, scary !!!

One of my mates comes from the same town as Bert Munroe, which is quite weird!
To be fair, that bloke was insane, and an inspiration to us all. Well to me at least
