After a while searching, I couldn't find the answer so.....

What are the basic laptop requirements for running megajolt / squirt?
Ie: ports/ connectors, memory etc

I remember it being mentioned sometime ago.....by someone.....somewhere......

I use an old IBM T23, 1.2Ghz, 256Mb memory, 1 x serial port (the iportant bit), XP sp2, and it eats MJ.

Might have a similar machine for sale in the near future....

Battery life can be a consideration, kinda pointless if you need to charge your laptop after 45mins of use, especially when an inverter makes the car voltage drop.
Don't rule out USB, if you've already got a laptop, nearly anything will work.

I didn't want to use this laptop really.
I was thinking an inexpensive little thing purely used for the car....

If your laptop has no serial port, could you use a usb/serial adaptor ???

Just looking at the minibook in the for sale section and wondering if that would be useable for mega squirt ??

Some usb converters do work, that's how i use mine, some don't though.

someone suggested searching for "Faulty Laptop" on Flea Bay. Few folks have got good deal for £20 quid etc.

Depends if you willing to re-install XP etc.... As often that is most of the problem.

Also Do you nned tp worry about battery life, if it is just for in the garage changing the ignition settings. My just plug mine in.

Another reason for an ex-military Panasonic CF-27 - works of the cig lighter as well as battery.
