Duckling who wore sandal following leg fracture dies

... but
"She went for the operation and she was under anaesthetic for a bit too long," said Mrs Morgan.

"The vet said that that just tipped it over the edge and they could not resuscitate her.

"It is a very sad ending to a lovely duckling. I feel gutted," she added.

"I felt I was doing the best I could to give her a better quality of life.

"The few months of life she had were better than they would have otherwise been. She was pampered to the limit."

Lucky has since been roasted with orange and Mrs Morgan has said she was lovely.

I had a duckling that was orphaned in hitchin, and i kept it in a box in my room and let it run around the house every day. It used the collar on my shirt to hide, and followed me everywhere.

Then my mates dog got to it.....

The dog died a few years later - quite painfully too (not that i thought it deserved it)

I like eating Duck too. REALLY nice. Im teaching my 3 year old son where the meat comes from at the moment, so there are no nasty surprises for him later on!

My (4 yo) daughter knows what meat comes from what animal, and it's not really difficult to work out if e.g. you see a roast chicken in it's entirety...but I'm pretty sure she doesn't realise the full implications.
