Evening all.
Does anyone know if a standard windscreen washer pump would cope with pumping diesel/paraffin at all? I have no idea what materials are used inside
them, or how well they are sealed. Anyone know?
Cheers
Andy
Are you making a 007 anti persuit tool?
If its not too critical try it and see.
They use them for pumping model engine fuel which is menthanol and nitro which is pretty nasty stuff so ought to be ok.

Suck it and see!
I'd expect it'd be okay, it's not very flammable and I doubt it'd eat the pump internals...
Parts washer on the cheap ?
ive done it. works fine. as said many RC flyers use these as transfer pumps.
Diesel in the petrol tank is it...?
I've haerd of one used a s a stand-in petrol pump to get home! Not sure how safe it'd be with something as flammable as petrol though, diesel takes a bit of lighting so cant see that being a problem.
Headlamp washer pump would have more throughput
I once drove 90 miles in an old Mini when the electric fuel pump was playing up by connecting the manual screen washer pump to the fuel line and pumping the fuel manually . Pump lasted OK which is more than can be said for my thumb
