I need to price up a plan, so i would appreciate if anyone could suggest a ballpark figure per metre of something similar to 40x2 or 3mm angle iron
(or whatever its properly called).
Cheers!
about £28 per length, 22 feet
Doesn't answer your question, but....
Try John Stansfeld steel supplies in your neck of the woods,
Springwell Works,
Buslingthorpe Lane
Leeds
LS7 2DF

I used to get all my steel there when I drove trucks and could pop in on the way past.
Was cheaper than any place near me.

I had a email from Parker Steel claiming that steel prices are set for steep rises:
quote:
Rising input costs are likely to hike up prices on domestic steel products.
There is increasing pressure on prices from Iron Ore (Spot Price $130/tonne), Coking Coal (Spot Price $200/tonne), Gas (NYMEX) ($5.50/therm) and Scrap ($325-$350/tonne shredded FOB Rotterdam).
With these costs in the region of 80-100% up compared to 6 months ago, British Mills, we believe, have at least £80/tonne of price increases that they will have to put through in the next 3-4 months.
Despite the Pound Sterling today hitting a 6-week peak versus the U.S. Dollar and a 4-month peak against the Euro, the Pound Sterling remains weakened. In addition, prices in Europe are (unusually) around 10% higher than in the UK, resulting in little import competition at this time further increasing the price pressures on steel.
called john stansfeld today, its a mere £12+vat for a 6m length! Get in
